Basic Info
Birthdate:1980-07-14
Bio
Character: Alucard von Mosquiton
Series: Master of Mosquiton
Original or Alternate: Alternate

Age: Most likely somewhere between 300 and 400 years old, but appears to be in his mid-to-late twenties or possibly early thirties.
Birthday: September 7
Gender: Male
Species: Vampire (one-quarter human)
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Appearance: Mosquiton does not quite live up to the usual standards of vampiric attractiveness. While he is tall and pale, with the classic sharp fangs, he is otherwise not a particularly frightening figure. He's skinny as a rail with no muscle whatsoever - his cape probably weighs more than he does. He has a long, narrow, careworn face and usually looks a bit glum and baffled by the world in general. His hair is pale blue and longish, occasionally pulled back into a short ponytail but usually allowed to hang loose around his face. His eyes are yellow. His usual outfit consists of the classic long black cloak with red lining and a high collar, held fast by some heavy gold ornamentation. Beneath it, his garb of choice consists of a form-fitting purple shirt, a wide aqua-colored belt, tight-fitting black pants, and black boots. However, to blend in with human beings, he can and will dress up in less eye-grabbing garb - generally a button-down shirt, slacks, and suspenders. During daylight hours, he often wears dark glasses when stepping outside. He also occasionally wears a pair of ordinary glasses, particularly when he's in the role of professor. No matter what he's wearing, he generally has something of a rumpled, just-rolled-out-of bed look about him. When he uses his powers, his eyes glow red and trickle blood-like tears.

Personality: Aside from not looking much like a standard vampire, Mosquiton doesn't act much like one, either. He's a self-proclaimed pacifist who hates fighting, or confrontations in general. He is actually a bit of a doormat most of the time, allowing himself to be talked into doing things he would rather not do in the name of keeping the peace. He's also a hopeless romantic. He is very patient, and will continue to put up with the eccentricities of the people he cares about long after a normal person would have called it quits. He actually dislikes hurting humans and will avoid it as much as possible, given his need for blood. However, just because he's soft in a lot of ways doesn't mean he's a coward. He's pretty much indestructible, and he knows it, and he will therefore walk more-or-less willingly into some very dangerous situations if his loved ones require it. When the chips are down, he's actually a pretty fair fighter. No matter what happens, he generally takes everything life throws at him with the same glum resignation. While he might snap and grumble a bit, it is difficult to make him truly angry. Mostly he just seems to accept that the world is not fair, that Murphy's Law is always in effect with him, and that he hasn't got much choice but to shut up and get on with life as best he can. However, drinking human blood brings out his dangerous side - once he's got a bit of fresh blood in his system, he becomes considerably more confident and aggressive, but effect is only temporary and wears off within a few minutes.

Abilities: Well, he's a vampire... mostly, anyway. When he drinks human blood, he can tap into his magical vampire powers, making him much faster and stronger than a normal human, as well as becoming capable of using vampiric magic. (His full magical powers are never firmly delineated - he seems to gain a new power in every episode and then never use it again). In the event that he dies, it is possible to revive him by immediately collecting his ashes and spilling a bit of human blood on him. It is also worth noting that owing to his partially human genetics, he is protected against the things that usually hold off vampires (garlic, crosses, and the like). Such trinkets have little or no effect on him (he's even been seen wearing a cross necklace before). He can also go out in full sunlight without it harming him, though he does prefer to wear sunglasses. He has two elemental spirits named Honou and Yuki who serve him, but since they're characters in their own right he's going to leave them at home when he comes to Econtra.

Weapons: His belt unravels to become a whip, which he uses a lot more effectively than his peaceful nature would suggest.

Weaknesses: His primary weakness is that he simply doesn't like confrontations, and will go to ridiculous lengths to avoid them. Even if he could best someone in a fight, he'd probably just give up and let them win so they'll go away and leave him alone, unless he has a good reason to need to win. On the flip side, he his physically dependent on human blood and has to have it on a regular basis, and will lose control and go on a feeding frenzy if he gets too hungry. Also, without drinking fresh blood, he's not able to use his magical powers and is therefore left physically vulnerable. A weird side effect of drinking from a human host is that the people he bites will fall in love with him, which he finds extremely annoying. (In canon, the effect is, to all appearances, permanent, but for the sake of Econtra's sanity I'll limit it to lasting no more than a week.) A little blood goes a long way with him, so he'll only need to eat every few weeks, but he can't use his powers to their full extent unless he's had fresh blood recently. He dislikes strong sunlight - it makes it difficult for him to see and weakens his powers. He's more easily hurt during the daylight hours. An issue that isn't likely to come up in Econtra but should be listed for the sake of completeness is that the only thing guaranteed to kill him is to put a wooden stake through his heart, and then scatter the resulting ashes. He can be revived from death by having someone spill a drop of human blood on his ashes, but after that point he will be that person's slave (they become, of course, the "Master of Mosquiton") and he has to do what they say until he is voluntarily freed or until he's staked again and revived by someone else.

History: Hundreds of years ago, vampires lived side-by-side with humans, sometimes as friends or even lovers, but most often as deadly enemies. Vampire hunters armed with wooden stakes hunted down these creatures of the night and obliterated them wherever they found them, very effectively. The race of vampires was steadily but surely dying out. In the midst of all this, one of the most powerful vampires of his day, Alucard von Mosquiton, fell in love with a human girl named Carmilla Inaho Camille, even going so far as having the temerity to marry her. Taking a human lover for a brief fling was one thing, but marrying a human and settling down with her was something else again, and neither the vampires nor the vampire hunters were willing to tolerate this. Mosquiton was banished from his clan, and without his bretheren to protect him, the vampire hunters became brave enough to decide to hunt him down and destroy him once and for all, and stormed the castle where Mosquiton and his bride lived. Upon realizing that they were surrounded, Carmilla asked Mosquiton to bite her and turn her into a vampire, stating a desire to be able to fight by his side, and saying that afterwards they would be able to stay together forever instead of being limited by her human lifespan. Mosquiton reluctantly agreed to her pleas.

However, Carmilla's plan was not what she told Mosquiton it would be. Feeling certain that the vampire hunters would never leave them alone until they had slain a vampire, she waited until a hunter drew near, and then ordered Mosquiton to flee as she threw herself inbetween her beloved and the stake that had been shot at him. She was instantly reduced to ash, and Mosquiton, unable to revive her and fearing for his life, fled. The hunters found a pile of ashes and concluded that the vampire had been slain and his wife had departed in terror instead of the other way around. They searched the castle for her, but never found any sign of her - nor did they pay much attention to the cloaked man who left the grounds later that night.

Mosquiton mourned the death of his wife, but he eventually decided to keep living in honor of her sacrifice. He did, however, feel it prudent to leave the country for a while. With his two elemental servants in tow, he wandered the countryside posing as a widower with two children, using his resistance to most things that would kill a vampire to allow him to pass as a human. Generally he took positions as a tutor of some kind, staying in place for a few years and moving on before his lack of aging began to draw attention. Living among humans for so long, he began to forget his fury at the hunters and instead remember his love for his wife and the kindness shown to him by his human neighbors. He became rather fond of the race, and decided that he would never harm any of them unless it absolutely couldn't be avoided.

Meanwhile, the hunter who had slain Carmilla felt that something was off. The room he had seen Mosquiton in had been dim, but he was still certain he had seen Carmilla in it seconds before he had fired his crossbow. On a hunch, he had kept her ashes instead of scattering them. After properly arming himself, the hunter used his own blood to revive her. Finding herself alive and enslaved to a human hunter, Carmilla was distraught, but had no choice but cooperate. She told her new master what had happened, and he became determined to hunt down the vampire who had made a fool of him and destroy him once and for all - and to use Carmilla to help him do it. Carmilla was reluctant at first, but as time passed by and Mosquiton did not come to rescue her, she began to believe that he had abandoned her. Feeling used and betrayed, she grew to hate all vampires in general and Mosquiton in particular, and threw herself into the task of helping her new master hunt down Mosquiton and punish him for his presumed cowardice and treachery. However, he had left the country, and neither hunter nor his vampire servant could find him. Eventually the hunter grew old and passed ownership of Carmilla to his son, who took up the mantle of hunter. This cycle continued down through the ages, with Carmilla being passed through the ranks of the original hunter's descendents for three hundred years.

Knowing nothing of this, Mosquiton and his "children" had settled down more-or-less comfortably somewhere in Japan, working as a history professor in a Catholic boarding school for girls, a job that had the advantage of being easy (after all, he'd lived through several centuries worth of history and could lecture on it from memory) and also having a ready source of food in the form of schoolgirls who were only too happy to spend a few minutes in private with their mysteriously attractive teacher. However, his relatively peaceful existence is spoiled when mysterious things begin happening all over the globe, including in his own home city, leading the latest vampire hunter to investigate, with Carmilla in tow. Mosquiton is stunned and overjoyed to see his lost love again, but quickly realized that his bad luck is holding steady and that Carmilla was none too pleased to see him. He was able to escape after a brief struggle, but he knew it was only a matter of time before the hunter and Carmilla found him again. He decided to take desperate measures, and dug out a crystal he had been saving in case of emergencies - a family heirloom of Carmilla's that he had been able to retrieve from their castle the night he fled. The crystal, when joined with a magical object called an O-Part, would unlock incredible power that would allow the owner of the crystal to do almost anything. He hoped that achieving such a thing would allow him to somehow free Carmilla from her bondage and win her back. Unfortunately, there were a great many O-Parts scattered around the world, and only one of them would match Mosquiton's crystal. In fact, the job was so difficult that nowhere in recorded history had anyone successfully managed to join an O-Part to its respective crystal key. Nevertheless, he was determined to try. By means of a magical portal, he transported himself from place to place in search of O-Parts, always closely pursued by the hunter, Carmilla, and various other odd creatures lurking in the unexplored parts of the world. However, one day, his portal failed to take him to an O-Part. Instead, it led him to Econtra.
